(ECNS) -- China's Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security announced Monday the country's monthly minimum wage standard among 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities, with Shanghai leading the list at 2,690 yuan ($374) per month. In terms of hourly minimum wages, Beijing ranked first with 26.4 yuan last year. The minimum monthly wage in 18 provincial-level regions exceeded 2,000 in 2023. In Shenzhen, the monthly minimum salary reached 2,360 yuan, higher than the average standard in Guangdong Province. This year, many provinces including Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Liaoning announced to raise minimum wage standards. The minimum monthly wage for full-time workers in Zhejiang was raised to 2,490 yuan, 2,260 yuan or 2,010 yuan in the province's different cities, starting from Jan. 1, 2024. In Liaoning Province, the minimum monthly wage for full-time workers will be raised to 2,100 yuan, 1,900 yuan or 1,700 yuan in the province's different cities from May 1, 2024. |
